Introducing the exquisite Petrof piano, a true masterpiece that embodies the rich legacy of a brand steeped in history and craftsmanship. Founded in 1864 by Antonín Petrof in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, this renowned piano manufacturer has been synonymous with quality and innovation for over 150 years.
A Legacy of Excellence
Antonín Petrof, who honed his skills at prestigious firms such as Heintzman & Co. and Friedrich Ehrbar, established a company that would go on to earn an imperial and royal warrant of appointment to the court of Austria-Hungary. This prestigious recognition set the stage for Petrof’s expansion, and by 1924, the company was exporting pianos to markets across Europe, Japan, China, Australia, and South America. The dedication to quality and artistry led to remarkable achievements, including the gold medal at the 1934 World Exhibition in Brussels, a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the Petrof team, which then employed approximately 400 skilled artisans.
Resilience Through Change
Despite the challenges posed by historical events, including the nationalization of the company after the 1948 Czechoslovak coup d’état, Petrof’s spirit remained unbroken. The company was returned to the Petrof family in 1991, marking a new chapter in its storied history. Today, it is led by two sisters from the fifth generation of the Petrof family, ensuring that the values of quality and innovation continue to permeate every instrument produced.
Craftsmanship Meets Innovation
Petrof pianos are celebrated not only for their rich, full-bodied sound but also for their innovative features. The company produces approximately 100 grand pianos and 500 upright pianos annually, each crafted with meticulous attention to detail. One of Petrof’s standout innovations includes advanced mechanisms for adjusting pressure points through magnetic systems, enhancing the overall playing experience. This combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology ensures that every Petrof piano resonates with both the performer’s emotions and the audience’s hearts.
